A true electric guitar prodigy and the epitome of restraint and innovation, Steve Lukather is an outstanding musician, acclaimed as the creator of numerous chart-toppers, producer of prestigious hits and session musician of the first rank. As a talented musician, he has developed a carnal relationship with the instruments in his collection, chosen with care and put to good use. Matt's Guitar Shop is proud to announce the arrival of “Luke's” famous 1951 blond Fender Esquire, a true centerpiece of his arsenal.
If ever there was a guitarist who held the key to success, it would be Steve Lukather. As a seasoned musician, he has forged exceptional listening skills and a small but thoughtful collection of tools. This 1951 Fender Esquire is a guitar of fundamental importance in Steve Lukather's career. Purchased in 1979, it has been used on numerous sessions and recordings, including the famous Toto IV (1982), for which he used only four guitars. Anything that sounds remotely like a Tele is this Esquire.
Convinced of its quality, he has made this guitar his tool of choice. He used it on most of Toto's recordings, as well as on several collaborations (Joni Mitchell, Dolly Parton or else Ringo Starr's single “Let's change the world” to only name a few). It was regularly mentioned by Steve in several interviews about his equipment, always positioned as a first-rate guitar.
This beautiful guitar (April 1951 neck and March 1951 body) is an outstanding example of early Esquire Fender, as well as an exceptional testament to Steve Lukather's talent and keen sense of music. A remarkable collector's item! Contact us if interested.
