The Matt's Guitar Shop has already welcomed some prestigious guests, but none more so than the great gentleman who came on 19 March: André Duchossoir, the unforgettable creator of Gibson Electrics (1936 - 1961).
If ever there was a man we wanted to meet in our showroom, it is Mr Duchossoir. A veritable well of knowledge and an impressive enthusiast for the six-stringed instrument, he is a historical reference for electric guitars. On 19 March, he was invited to take part in a joint interview with Matthieu Lucas, to be published in the next issue of Guitare Xtreme magazine.
André Duchossoir is one of the world's leading historians of the guitar, a field in which he has always been an authority. He was the first to take an interest in the history of the major brands, and his books are veritable bibles for all discerning enthusiasts. He is without doubt the best-known Frenchman among guitar geeks the world over.
His visit to the showroom is a powerful symbol, as he is not in the habit of visiting music shops, particularly in France, and it took a brilliant idea from journalist and musician Ludovic Egraz to make the meeting happen. This exchange between enthusiasts is the meeting of two generations so far apart yet so close in their love of the instrument and their demand for historical truth. Matt's generation is doing its utmost to pass on André's enormous legacy, and Mr Duchossoir clearly appreciated the calm and elegance of the place. To be read very soon.
