Like every guitarist and rock'n'roll fan, the name Chuck Berry immediately brings to mind the riff of "Johnny B. Goode". A guitarist of genius, he is one of the most important artists in the history of music. He is the embodiment of rock'n'roll, with his virtuoso, over-the-top style. And so it was that a very special guitar arrived at Matt's Guitar Shop, a coveted piece of history: a guitar played by the undisputed master of rock on stage in the early 1970s.
Guitars that have passed through Chuck Berry's hands are rare, and those that have been immortalised in his hands are even rarer. Matt's Guitar Shop has managed to unearth this grail for all rock fans with this splendid black Gibson Firebird! This guitar was played during the Rock and Roll Show at Wembley Stadium in 1972 by Chuck Berry to round off his Dantesque performance. The concert was recorded, and you can see the guitarist going wild with his guitar in hand! It's rumoured that Lenny Kravitz could also try his hand at a few acrobatics with this guitar, more than fifty years later... Stay tuned!
