Among the iconic bassists who thrill audiences around the world, there are few like David Ellefson of Megadeth. The musician has quickly become a reference in the world of bass metal, imposing his aggressive playing style with his heavy and guttural bass riffs. Since their creation, the members of Megadeth have renewed the approach of metal and have imposed by their presence and their long hair a massive rock carried by fast and energetic musicians. Among them, the rhythmic pillar is David Ellefson. This exceptional five-string bass has been played by David himself on several concerts and has all the stage specificities desired by the bassist.
David Ellefson was quick to choose the Jackson brand of instruments, finding them particularly suited to his playing style. The bass master and the American brand have repeatedly joined forces to offer a range of instruments loaded with the technical and design touches desired by the backbone of Megadeth. This X Series Signature Dave Ellefson Concert 5-string bass is part of that partnership. Handsome in look and sound, exquisite in feel and loaded with Dave Ellefson's desired design touches, this is a bass designed for ultra-technical playing at lightning speed. The resonant poplar body is constructed with a top contour that provides a stable and comfortable anchor for pick or finger picking, while the bottom contour offers perfect balance when resting on the knee. Designed for fast, crisp playing, the maple fingerboard flattens as you move up the neck for increased playing comfort and quick articulation. The Jackson HiMass 5-string bridge sharpens the attack of notes for added punch and clarity, tuning for improved sustain without altering the fundamental tone of the instrument. For a stylish touch, Ellefson added the all-new Jackson 4x1 headstock (4 tuners on top, 1 on bottom) that features the "Radiation" logo and Ellefson's facsimile signature.
This bass guitar was a live instrument used by David Ellefson on several dates. As such, it has many of the characteristics of the bassist's personal instruments, including the unique sticker on his bass guitars, the famous Megadeth soldier skull, and it has been signed and dated by David Ellefson on the body. A great instrument to discover at Matt's Guitar Shop!
