Bass Lightwave Saber Fretless Ex Greg Allman / Allman Brothers

Sold

When brothers Gregg and Duane Allman founded the Allan Brothers in Jacksonville, Florida in the late 1960s, they were poised to inscribe their name in the pantheon of legendary bands. Incorporating blues, jazz and country inspirations into their music, they became the pioneers of Southern rock. The Allman Brothers paved the way for many artists to follow in their footsteps, through their musical harmony and their mastery of the concert stage. Today, they have become rock legends, not least for their undeniable sense of jamming and improvisation on stage. In a concert with so much space reserved for jamming, the instrument chosen by the musician is precious, indicating a very fusional relationship to allow the best possible feeling with the instrument. This Lightwave bass in its natural finish is a direct example of multi-instrumentalist Gregg Allman's playing habits: it's a bass he played and particularly appreciated.

Of the two founding brothers, it was Gregg who carried the flame of the family band the longest. After Duane's accidental death, Gregg led the band through several reformations, striving to maintain the original spirit of the group - between rock rhythms and improvised flights of fancy. This bass is a privileged witness to the creative and musical journey of one of the founding members of the Allman Brothers. It testifies to Gregg Allman's talent as a multi-instrumentalist and musician. This bass remained in his possession for many years, being the first owner and taking great care of it. It's an instrument with a prestigious provenance that takes us back to the roots of one of the greatest bands in history!
